How to Hide the Stretch Marks in a Bathing Suit

New moms and people of both sexes who have gained weight may have something in common--stretch marks. Stretch marks (or striae) occur in pregnancy or weight gain as a series of dark red or purple lines that fade over time. Body-building can also cause stretch marks as your muscles grow in size. Concealing stretch marks when wearing a bathing suit is a concern. There are some easy ways to disguise stretch marks before that trip to the beach or pool.

Apply sunless tanning cream carefully to avoid streaking to cover stretch marks. Test the product on your skin first to check for the correct color.

Cocoa butter is the natural fat/oil of the cacao bean.

Rub cocoa butter onto the skin to fade stretch marks. This must be done for at least one month before you see results. Using the cocoa butter daily will make the stretch marks gradually fade.

Shop for a bathing suit that will cover the stretch marks. Consider buying a swimsuit with shorts to cover any marks on your upper thighs. With so many styles of suits, finding the right cover-up is just a matter of careful shopping.

Consult a dermatologist. For severe stretch marks, there are dermabrasion and laser treatments which may work. Your doctor will advise you if these are options.
