How to Reduce the Appearance of Fine Lines & Wrinkles on the Skin

As people age, the skin starts to lose collagen, as well as elasticity. Wrinkle creams and even forms of plastic surgery are often used to turn back the hands of time. However, there are ways to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. This may involve just disguising them or smoothing them out, or even taking the step of filling them in. In general, the methods of reducing the look and visibility of wrinkles are not permanent.

    Apply a retinol cream or gel to your skin at least three nights per week. Retinol is made up of vitamin A, which can actually reverse the signs of aging if used consistently. In addition, it prevents new wrinkles. If the skin can tolerate it at three days per week, try to apply it five or six evenings per week.

    Use a nightly moisturizer that contains Coenzyme Q10. Apply it gently to your skin every evening after moisturizing your face and either before or after using a retinol cream. Coenzyme Q10 works to reduce the appearance of lines, especially around the eyes.

    Apply a moisturizing eye cream under the eyes every morning and evening. This does not prevent or remove wrinkles, but it plumps up the thin skin under the eyes. This smooths out the skin and makes the lines less visible.

    Have your wrinkles and lines injected with cosmetic fillers. They consist of fat or collagen. A dermatologist will inject them into the wrinkles in order to fill them up.
