Tips on Slimmer Thighs

For many women and some men, thighs and legs in general are trouble spots. Because you can't just reduce fat in areas that you want, it can be difficult to get slimmer thighs. But there are a few things that you can do to trim and slim your thighs.

Chair Squat

    Squats are an excellent exercise for the legs, especially the thighs, and there are several versions of squats. One version is the chair squat. To perform this exercise, stand in front of a kitchen or patio chair. Lower your body down slowly until you are sitting in the chair. Engage your thighs, then stand back up. Complete three sets of chair squats at a time, with 12 repetitions each time. Do them two to three times per week.

Running

    Running is an excellent way to get slimmer thighs. When running is combined with a healthful diet, you should notice fat loss all over, including your thighs. Because running is aerobic, it will help to burn off fat; and because it's a weight-bearing exercise, it will help tone and slim thighs. Run three times a week for 20 minutes at a time.

Yoga

    Yoga, particularly power yoga, can have strengthening and weight-loss benefits. Although yoga does not burn as many calories as running or swimming, it raises your heart rate. Practiced regularly --- at least twice per week --- yoga helps create long, lean thighs.

Portion Sizes

    Reduce overall weight and fat in your thighs by watching your portion sizes to slim them down. This is a bit easier to do than strictly counting calories. Rather than eating to fullness, watch your hunger cues, and eat until you are just barely full. Wait about 10 minutes. If you are still hungry, eat a piece of fruit or vegetables. Also, if you are eating dinner at a restaurant, immediately remove 40 percent of the food and place in a to-go box for later.
