Getting rid of fat deposits and toning your thighs combines dieting for fat loss and exercise. Dieting decreases fat, and exercise builds muscle, which burns more calories. To increase fat loss, add 2 tbsp. of ground flax daily to your diet. Flax binds with fats and eliminates them quickly. Drink 64 oz. of water daily. Many times, when you feel hungry, your body is thirsty. Water will help you feel fuller.

    Spot reduction is a myth. According to ExRx.net, "contrary to what the infomercials suggest there is no such thing as spot reduction. Fat is lost throughout the body in a pattern dependent upon genetics, sex (hormones), and age. Overall body fat must be reduced to lose fat in any particular area. Although fat is lost or gained throughout the body it seems the first area to get fat, or the last area to become lean, is the midsection (in men and some women, especially after menopause) and hips and thighs (in women and few men)."

    Decrease your calorie intake. Choose a diet plan that works for you. Eliminating fast food and second helpings are the easiest forms of calorie control.

    Exercise will help burn calories. Cardio exercise burns calories and builds muscle. ExRx.net cautions that toning alone "can change the appearance of those areas but will not result in specific loss of body fat."

    Working the larger muscle areas burns more calories. Thighs are among the larger muscle groups in the body. The thighs are composed of three muscles: quadriceps, hamstrings and hip adductors.

    Toning the quadriceps: Hold weights in each hand, arms at your sides. Bend the knees and extend hips backward, as if sitting in a chair.     Toning the hip adductors: Put on the ankle weights. Lie flat on the floor, arms at your side. Contract abs and lift your legs toward the ceiling. Extend legs sideways so that your legs form a V and lower until you feel a stretch in the inner thighs. Brings legs back toward ceiling. Repeat 10 to 12 times for one set.

    Do these exercises three times a week. As the movements become less challenging, increase the number of sets to three of each exercise. Then increase the weights.
