Cellulite is caused by tiny pockets of fat that dimple under the skin to give that orange-peel look. It can be caused by diet, lack of exercise and excess soda and caffeine. Sometimes, however, it is just genetic. There is no cure for cellulite at this point, but there are ways to reduce the appearance of it. One way is by taking baths with cellulite-reducing herbs and oils.
Milk: It Does a Body Good!
For this recipe you will need cinnamon oil, which you can get at an aromatherapy retailer, and milk or cream. Release five drops of cinnamon oil in a glass filled half way with warm milk or cream. Mix this and add to very hot bath water. Sit in this bath for five minutes only.
Essential-Oil Treatment
This next bath recipe works best if you first rub the affected areas with a body scrub or a brush. You will need essential oils such as orange or grapefruit oil, rosemary oil and juniper oil. Again, you can purchase these at spa shops or aromatherapy retailers. Run a hot bath and add three drops of orange or grapefruit oil and three drops each of rosemary oil and juniper oil. You can also try lavender and cypress, but don't mix more than four oils at one time.
Sea Bath
For this recipe you will need to purchase an algae bath packet from any spa shop or from Bath and Body Works. A pure algae mineral bath mix is probably the best bet. Algae help reduce the appearance of the cellulite dimples because they contain essential amino acids as well as E vitamins, which help the body break down fat.
