Spas worldwide make millions of dollars each year cleansing, massaging and pampering their patrons. One of the most popular services that spas offer is exfoliating body treatments. These treatments use exfoliating particles combined with moisturizing oils to slough away dead skin cells and reveal the new skin beneath. You can create your own exfoliating body scrub at home for a fraction of the cost.

Ingredients

Coarsely ground coffee contains caffeine, which will invigorate and tone skin--much like caffeine gives you a boost when you drink it. It also adds an alluring scent to your body scrub. Raw sugar--the kind with large granules, unlike classic table sugar--provides exfoliation particles that will slowly dissolve on your skin as you scrub. Olive oil is a kitchen staple that works well in your food and on your skin. It adds a moisturizing component to your scrub, which will help bind the exfoliating particles to it. As the coffee and sugar whisk away old layers of skin, the olive oil will moisturize the new skin below.

Equipment

A coffee grinder will be needed if you choose to use your own beans for the scrub. Store-bought ground coffee will work equally well in this recipe, however. A measuring cup and measuring spoons will be required, and a spoon or other utensil will be needed to stir the ingredients to ensure proper mixing. You will need a clean mixing bowl for combining the ingredients. A clean, lidded container large enough to contain 2 1/2 cups of body scrub will be used to store your scrub. You may be able to mix the scrub directly in the storage container.

Procedure

Coarsely grind 2 cups of coffee (or measure 2 cups of store-bought ground coffee) and pour it into the mixing bowl. "...At first, this program is a whole lot concerning acquiring the proper advice on the concern of cellulite, or in my case, , orange skin behind. When you join to the 'Kick-Butt Cellulite Redux' package you'll also receive 'The Cellulite Reduction Report.' Atlas, a credentialed personal trainer and actual fitness qualified. This report has in-depth information on the newest cellulite reduction scams getting the rounds, and rescued me from spending money on the uncomfortable Lypomassage treatment facilities that just sprouted up where I live...". Measure and pour 1/2 cup raw sugar into the bowl. Stir until these ingredients are thoroughly combined. Next, add 3 tbsps. of olive oil to the scrub. Mix well. Once all of ingredients are combined, carefully pour the scrub into the storage container (this step may be skipped if you chose to mix your scrub in the container). Place a lid on the scrub and use it within six months.

To use the scrub, apply it to wet skin in the shower and massage it in large circular motions with your fingers. Be careful not to scrub too harshly; the scrub will exfoliate for you, and applying too much pressure could damage your skin. Rinse with warm water and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
