How to Lose Weight With Super Green Foods

Some dieters choose to eliminate carbohydrates from their diet to lose weight. However, with increasing popularity of wheat grass juices and green smoothies, many people are opting for a greener solution to losing weight. Super green foods not only provide fiber, but they also are very low in calories and have high levels of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.

    Try a green smoothie. Green smoothies usually contain a multitude of blended vegetables, some of which include spinach, cucumbers, celery stalks, parsley and kale. Drinking green smoothies is an effective way to consume chlorophyll, nutrients, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants. Chlorophyll is like medicine to our bodies and increases the flow of oxygen to all of the body parts.

    Make a large salad. Include various green vegetables, such as spinach, kale, cucumbers, celery stalks and parsley. Add other vegetables as well, including carrots, tomatoes and Brussels sprouts. Instead of eating a deli hoagie for lunch, opt for a salad and a green smoothie. Don't use iceberg lettuce. Instead, choose a darker leaf lettuce or kale. Don't add dressing or croutons.

    Blend a batch of your own smoothies. Everyone's taste is a bit different, and you may not like the ready-made green smoothies. Blend together your favorite green vegetables. Add spices, such as ginger or pepper. Adding a fruit may also help with the taste. Getting used to the taste of green smoothies may take a while. However, the more green smoothies you consume, the more accustomed your body and taste buds will become. Juicing vegetables makes the greens more appetizing.

    Cook a pot of green vegetable soup. Add your favorite vegetables to a boiling pot of water. Use kale, celery stalks, spinach, broccoli, cucumbers and arugula. You can also add other vegetables, such as chick peas, carrots and beets. Add in spices of your choice, such as nutmeg, ginger, pepper or salt, to add a bit of flavor.
