Despite the "perfect" models you see on the glossy pages of fashion magazines, no one has perfect skin. Visible imperfections such as spider veins, cellulite or bruises can happen to anyone. These imperfections cause self-esteem to decrease, along with the worry that the entire world is focused on these shadowy skin spots. However, both cellulite and bruises can be hidden using items you may already have on hand, which doesn't include slathering on a thick blob of tinted fluid foundation or patting on loads of powder.
Hiding Cellulite
According to the Cellulite Diaries, cellulite is more visible on pale skin due to the shadows created by the dimpling in comparison to the rest of the skin. The solution therefore is to tan skin and give it a healthy glow. As Victoria's Secret model Marisa Miller says, self-tanners make skin glow and make it moisturized so light hits it differently, hiding bruises and cellulite. Therefore, to hide cellulite, use a self-tanning lotion regularly or occasionally to develop a sun-kissed glow. Some of these lotions are enhanced with shimmer, leaving skin with a golden touch. Beauty Routine for Hiding Imperfections
In order to prepare skin for self-tanning or shimmery lotion, cleanse skin thoroughly with a moisturizing shower gel. Then, exfoliate with a scrub. Apply self-tanning lotion right after bathing or showering so that skin absorbs the lotion well. Moisturized skin tends to hide the cellulite in comparison to dry skin. The point is to have skin that is shiny, even and full of moisture so that the shadows created by cellulite blend into skin.
Healing Bruises
The method that you use for hiding cellulite also works for bruises. However, bruises are darker than cellulite, and therefore require more cover-up. First, cool a bruise using ice cubes in a Ziploc bag or paper towel for about 10 minutes, and repeat as desired. This helps speed up the healing process. Apply a healing gel for bruises and muscle pains. This will also help the bruise heal and reduce the discoloration.
Hiding Bruises
To cover up a bruise, use any makeup you have such as concealer, foundation or powder after moisturizing skin such as with a shimmer or self-tanning lotion. The best solution is creamy concealer, especially a yellow and green concealer which hides redness and evens skin tone. Choose a yellow concealer if the bruise is blue, or a green concealer if it is red. Apply the concealer, or the liquid foundation, onto and around the bruise. Blend the color with your finger. Set with powder in the color of your skin to help keep the makeup in place. If the bruise is small, you can also use eyeshadow. If the bruise is red or purple, use green eyeshadow, and if it's more blue, use a yellow eyeshadow. Choose eyeshadow colors closely designed for your skin tone, such as light green eyeshadow for fair skin and a darker green for a darker skin tone.
