How to Create Cheek Dimples

Cheek dimples are viewed as attractive in many cultures. They are a genetically inherited trait from a dominant gene. So, if both parents have dimples, each of their offspring are 50 to 100 percent likely to also have dimples. If only one parent has dimples however, the chance of dimples occurring in each of their children is only 25 to 50 percent. Dimples are seen as an attractive feature in image obsessed western cultures and some people are prepared to go to any lengths to get them. The only reliable way to achieve dimples, if you are not blessed with them naturally, is to have cosmetic surgery.

Instructions

Book a free consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss the operation, called dimpleplasty. A reputable cosmetic surgeon will be happy to discuss any concerns and questions prior to surgery without making a charge.

Book time off work, or clear your schedule, for at least the one day on which your surgery is booked. The operation takes about an hour for both dimples and can be done with either a local anaesthetic or intravenous sedation. All the work is carried out inside the mouth on the other side of the cheek where you want the dimple. Bruising is rare, but there is likely to be some swelling. Although, theoretically it would be possible to go straight back to work or college after the procedure, it is sensible to at least take a day off for the operation to avoid unnecessary stress.

Stick to a liquid diet for the first day or so if you can. It is not necessarily required, but with the slight swelling and soreness you are likely to experience, you will probably not feel like eating much anyway.

Take any antibiotics prescribed to you by your plastic surgeon and rinse your mouth regularly with an antiseptic oral solution until you have fully healed.
