According to WebMD (see reference 4), there are several benefits to losing weight, especially for a person who is severely overweight, or obese. Weight loss can help extend the life of a person suffering from an obesity-related illness such as diabetes. It can also improve sleep-related disorders, such as sleep apnea. One unpleasant side effect of weight loss is the loose skin that can be left behind. There are ways to firm the upper thighs after weight loss.

    Introduce fruits and vegetables into the diet. According to Fit Day (see reference 1), these food groups have the antioxidants and vitamins required to help tighten skin, especially in the thigh region.

    Introduce foods that are high in protein into your diet.     Drink plenty of water. According to the Mayo Clinic (see reference 5), an adult should be drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. The daily intake of water should be increased for anyone who is performing physical labor or is engaged in vigorous activities, such as exercise.

    Exercise. Perform at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise three to four days a week. These exercises can be targeted toward the upper thigh region, such as walking, biking or swimming. Specific exercises, such a squats and leg lifts, can also help reduce the appearance of flabby skin in the upper-thigh area.

    Speak to your doctor about surgeries that can remove any excess skin around the thighs, which can make them appear more toned.
